The writers are back!
By Ben • Feb 14th, 2008 • Category: BloggingThe writers’ strike that started on November fifth is finally over. Like in an episode of Lost, after a long time of senselessness and nothingness something finally happened. The writers got what they were asking for. They were demanding a pay raise and compensation for shows aired on the Internet and mobile devices, as if their paychecks weren’t fat enough already. But the good news is that they did get it, after exposing TV viewers to endless hours of reruns, crap reality TV and mindless game shows.
It will take a while, up to two months, to get Hollywood back to normal. Some big networks already order new seasons of their most popular shows. ABC has ordered new seasons of Ugly Betty and Lost (was there a script to that show?)
Late night TV hosts couldn’t be happier. They are the ones who will benefit first from having the writers back since they were the first ones to suffer from the strike. They were off the air for 9 weeks and the few weeks they were back on air were pretty chaotic and painful for them.
I wonder what else those guys would’ve had to come up with to keep their shows running. I personally think that another Colbert/Steward/O’Brien fight would’ve been awesome, if they hurt each other for real. Now I only hope that my favorite TV shows come back soon. I am looking at you Thursday night NBC. I am tired of using those three hours friending people on facebook!
